A wide-angle lens with a 14x zoom and a focal length of 4.3-60mm offering 4K performance with enhanced operability, perfect for studio and ENG applications.
This UHDgc series lens offers 4K resolving power for the entire zoom range. Canon’s exclusive optical design technology gives this lens extraordinary levels of performance that befits a true 4K lens making it capable of capturing incredible levels of detail.
Special coatings on the lens surfaces along with an internal anti-reflection coating on the inside of the lens barrel result in less ghosting and flaring, allowing users to take high-tonality images with all the clarity and contrast needed to support HDR broadcast.
A specially optimised arrangement of fluorite and UD glass minimises chromatic aberrations resulting in extraordinarily high-quality footage with no loss of sharpness or colour fringing around on the edges of the subject.
Canon’s trademark optics provide superior optomechanical performance, delivering an increase in magnification to 14x and a longer focal length of 4.3-60mm. A built-in 2x extender doubles the lens’ performance, all the while still retaining its stunning 4K capability.
Compact and lightweight for comfortable use in any location, this lens will be a firm favourite for news teams thanks to its rapid start-up. A new digital drive unit allows for precise, repeatable operation while enhancing virtual studio integration, with 16-bit encoder output.
Designed for electronic news gathering (ENG) applications, the lens’s versatility allows broadcast cameramen the flexibility to cover even the most demanding of situations, thanks to a 14x 4.3-60mm zoom lens, a lightweight compact design and a built-in 2x extender.
Responding to the varied demands of ENG environments, a lens is a robust unit employing a magnesium alloy body for lightweight, exceptional durability. And despite numerous performance enhancements, it weighs just 2.11kg.
The UHDgc series features correction data based on BT.2020. This enables excellent colour reproduction to the corners of the screen when attached to a 4K camera.
BT.2020 offers a wider colour gamut, brightness, and resolution than the conventional BT.709 broadcasting standard, so a colour shift in the area around the screen is more noticeable. The UHDgc series provides optimised chromatic aberration correction, enabling more lifelike high-resolution video shooting with superb tonality, realistic texture and depth.
With its 16-bit absolute value encoder, the lens can power on without encoder initialisation. Image aberration correction function, position detection, and viewfinder position display are all possible from the camera immediately when powered up.
The high-resolution 16-bit encoder makes a detailed representation of images possible. The accurate position information detection makes calibration easy when matching the actual and virtual images.
Three Canon-made 20-pin connectors are provided, enabling readout of high-accuracy position information for zoom, focus and iris. This ensures integration with virtual terminals even with a full servo setup with focus and zoom controllers connected.
Consistent with other lenses in the Canon BCTV range, a vivid green ring on the outside of the lens identifies as a broadcast lens while a new design gives the zoom a distinctly premium feel, perfectly in-keeping with its 4K performance.
The zoom magnification capability and widest focal length numbers are located next to the 2x extender lever, and clearly show which lens is attached at a glance.
With a weight of approximately 2.11kg and a maximum length of 247mm, the lens is compact and light enough to sit on the shoulder with ease, making it the perfect choice for a broadcast camera operator working in an ENG environment.
